NDIS Speech Pathology

Communication — whether it’s through speech, literacy or other forms of support — is a vital step towards building connections and gaining independence. At Outcome Connect, our NDIS speech pathology service helps people of all ages communicate with confidence. Because everyone deserves to be understood and valued.

How our Speech Pathologists support you

Our caring Speech Pathologists are here to help individuals reach their communication goals. If you’re facing challenges with speech, language, swallowing or social communication, our Speech Pathologists will work closely with you to understand what your specific speech and language needs.

We start with an assessment to understand your ability to communicate and understand others before creating a personalised speech therapy plan that supports you to reach your communication goals. We deliver speech therapy in everyday settings to ensure it’s meaningful and practical.

We believe in taking a multidisciplinary approach, so our Speech Pathologists work alongside our Positive Behaviour Support Practitioners. This means all your supports are working together in a coordinated way to help you achieve your goals.

With Outcomes Connect, speech therapy is not just about treatment — it’s about supporting you to build skills, connections, confidence and independence.

Our Speech Pathology Services

At Outcomes Connect, we provide speech pathology to children and adults with a wide range of needs, including those with high or complex support requirements.

Our approach starts with a thorough speech and language assessment. We look at all aspects of communication — speech, understanding and using language, voice, fluency and literacy — so we can identify strengths and the areas where support is needed.

After the assessment, our Speech Pathologists create evidence-based therapy plans tailored to each individual’s goals. Whether it’s preparing for school, enhancing social communication, developing literacy skills or improving communication at home, work or in the community — our focus is on real-world outcomes that build confidence and independence.

We also provide swallowing (dysphagia) assessments and support to help make mealtimes safer and more enjoyable, working closely with participants, families, and support teams to ensure consistency across settings.

All our Speech Pathologists are registered with Speech Pathology Australia, and also bring experience in Positive Behaviour Support, giving them a well-rounded understanding of communication and behaviour needs.

If you’re looking for NDIS speech therapy that’s flexible, person-centred and grounded in everyday goals, our team is here to help.

Speech Therapy FAQ’s

What is speech pathology?

Speech pathology is a health service that supports people with communication and swallowing difficulties. In Australia, this service is provided by qualified Speech Pathologists — university-trained professionals registered with Speech Pathology Australia.

While the term “speech therapy” is commonly used, it refers to the support provided — not the professional delivering it. The correct title in Australia is Speech Pathologist.

NDIS speech pathology plays a key role in helping people of all ages build independence, improve social connection and communicate confidently in their everyday lives — at home, school, work and in the community.

What does a typical session with a Speech Pathologist look like?

A typical NDIS speech pathology session starts with a review of goals and progress. Depending on the participants’ tailored speech therapy plan, the session may involve activities like games, structured tasks or exercises, visual aids or practising with real-life situations. Every NDIS speech pathology session is customised to suit the participant’s goals — ensuring therapy is relevant, practical and engaging.

What conditions can speech therapy help with?

Speech therapy can assist people with various conditions, such as:

  • Developmental delays
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Stroke or brain injury recovery
  • Intellectual disability
  • Voice disorders
  • Swallowing difficulties (dysphagia)
  • Stuttering or fluency challenges
  • Social communication difficulties

How do I access NDIS speech pathology services?

You can get speech pathology services funded through the NDIS under the Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living category. Services can be accessed through a self-managed, plan-managed or agency-managed plan. If you’re unsure where to begin, check out our Client Journey page for a step-by-step guide.

What is meant by evidence-based practice?

Evidence-based practice means our Speech Pathologists draw on current research, professional expertise and each participant’s goals and preferences to guide their therapy. This approach helps ensure that the strategies and interventions we use are relevant and tailored to the individual.

What services are also available at Outcomes Connect?

Our unique multidisciplinary approach encompasses NDIS Speech Pathology services and NDIS Positive Behaviour Support. Our collaborative team works closely together to provide holistic, person-centred care for every individual and family we support.
